Please think local authorities

Please think, local authorities.

I arrived to visit a 95 customer of mine to find him enraged to the point he lifted his zimmer frame and slammed it to the floor in anger !.

The Fire Service had decided that all the flats, in the not so purpose built retirement complex he has  lived in for over 20 years, needed new fire doors. All well and good and I am the first person to want the elderly and disabled to be protected but please think local authorities……..

Imagine you have had the same door for 20 years and then suddenly you get a new one when you are no longer able to take on board new information as effectively as before due to old age. Then add into the mix the fact you are not even left any information to study or given a demonstration……. I can understand this gentleman’s frustration. He left the door unlocked to go for a walk into town as he didn’t know what to do.

Please local authorities think like an elderly person and if you can’t contact me and I will suggest how you can help them best !
