Elderly drink drivers

You have an awkward dilemma.

You know someone elderly is drinking and driving, what do you do ?

If you report them and they loose their licence they also loose independence.

If you don’t report them, they stand the risk of having an accident

  1. Many thanks for your comment Jo. I agree entirely with you. Don’t forget they may also have taken a cocktail of prescription medications that morning also. I am the biggest advocate for keeping the elderly independent but they need to be safe – for themselves and others. I also feel the same law needs to be applied to mobility scooter users who drive on the roads.

  2. Drink driver is a drink driver. Age doesn’t matter! Drink drivers are fatal on the road, they cause accidents, they kill people. I always believed in one saying: if you cannot live with the consequences of your actions, don’t do it! If an elderly drink driver looses independence, it is by their choice. Drink drivers belong in jail!
