It’s a well know fact that a happy mind can help maintain a healthy body.

So much emphasis is placed on our physical health today, especially now with adverts on television encouraging us all to to look after ourselves now to lessen the cost to the NHS in the future. It is easy to forget how important your mental health is to your physical well being. A happy mind helps a healthy body what ever your age.

We all know what happiness is. Sometimes short lived such as a new purchase, a new grandchild or the company of good friends wine! True happiness  however comes from activities that absorb us and being made to feel valued. This gives a deeper feeling of satisfaction. This brings a more sustainable happiness for true feeling of well being.

It is important to take time out for yourself,  especially if you are caring for a loved one, to nuture good relationships and enjoy hobbies. Focus on positive thoughts and try not to dwell on negative ones, easier said than done sometimes.

Attitude of Gratitude

How often do you step back and think of the things in life that you have, good friends, family, hobbies that fulfil you . Sometimes it helps to step back  for a moment of gratitude and you will be amazed how good things actually are.

Take time to notice the environment you live in, the leaves on the trees, the lovely fluffy clouds in the sky….. it may sound a bit woo woo but I can personally assure you it works. A positive mental attitude helps promote a feeling of well being and can positively influence our physical health.
