Bath step aids for the elderly

Many elderly people find getting in and out of the bath difficult but still want to have a bath and maintain independence. There are several products on the market that can make this task easier.

Basically they are a shallow step making the climb up to and down into the bath.

The one pictured above is the Savanah Bath Step a basic platform with a wide surface area and non slip . Each step provides a 4 inch raise and they can be slotted together.

An example of a adjustable footstool with a safety hand rail is shown below. I prefer this option as it does offer a degree of stability and increased safety if living alone.
step stool with handrailIt is always worth reminding an elderly person to use a bath mat so they don’t slip and keep a call bell pendant, mobile phone or wireless telephone to hand when in the bath.
