Jelly for the elderly.

I have always associated jelly with children’s parties. However whilst away this week (on the paradise Island of Mauritius as part of my husbands corporate conference !!!!) I was talking to someone about my website and elderly people drinking enough water.

She had sadly nursed her former husband who was dying from Motor Neurones disease, and mentioned jelly as a great way of increasing anyone’s fluid  intake and increase hydration.

This was something I had never thought of and so decided to share it with you. Making a sugar free jelly with 3/4 of a pint of water provides a tasty and easy way to add more fluid to an elderly persons diet.

Not only is it easy to swallow if an elderly person has no teeth or poor dentures it is a sweet treat that can still healthy for them.

To add extra nutrients some soft pureed fruit such as bananas, strawberries or raspberries could be added.
