Keeping Elderly people safe in a Heatwave.
FREE ROOM THERMOMETERS AVAILABLE- keep an eye on the temperature.
Summer has arrived with a fierce heat. Not that I mind, but excess heat can spell trouble for the elderly. The recommended temperature for the main living room is 21C or 70F – my office is 22 degrees in the shade and it is only 9am!
Many a time, I have visited someone elderly in the height of Summer to find their heating on full blast, their homes like a furnace posing the risk of heat exhaustion and dehydration.
Hundreds of free room thermometers have been dispatched through Caron Cares again last Winter even though it was incredibly mild again. It was also reported that the incidents of winter deaths amongst the elderly were down, which is wonderful news
If you would like one for someone elderly or disabled please use the CONTACT tab at the top of this screen remembering to leave ALL your details, including the full postal address you would like it sent to.
There is a limit of one per household and I am sorry but I can only ship to the UK free but if you are an organisation working with elderly people you can email Age UK directly and request more.
