Sometimes I just use this platform to Rant .
One of my clients is struggling to cope alone at home. Even with the support I provide, some cooking, all the housework, helping organise his appointment diary, and the laundry he is still finding life alone as an elderly man tough.
He shared this with his closest child who lives nearby and said he had had enough. He felt ready to go into a care home and be looked after. He was persuaded to carry on living at home on his own. The money from the sale of his home would only fund his care for so long. Not forgetting the fact that if he sold his home her inheritance would be used to fund his care.
We had a chat about how to best support him and I asked if she would cook a meal for him (when cooking for herself and husband) and freeze it. His response was “she won’t do that”.
Do some people not think or not care ?
